Rosters

Players and team staff must be registered with the OWHA before they are eligible to play. All teams MUST have an approved OWHA roster PRIOR to the first time the team goes on the ice.

Once tryouts and sort outs are complete, coaches will need to choose their bench staff (assistant coaches, trainer, manager, etc.) and have them register as 'Staff' in RAMP. Each roster must have at minimum one trained head coach, one female and one certified trainer. The head coach cannot be both a trainer and head coach, to avoid potential conflicts of interest.

The following maximums also apply:
  • Number of Skaters for Senior & Masters (including goaltenders) - 25 (only 20 can dress for games)
  • Number of Skaters (including goaltenders) - 19 (All Other Divisions)
  • Number of Goaltenders - 2 (All Divisions)
  • Number of staff permitted on the bench - 5
  • Number of US/IIHF players - 2
Note that only 5 staff members are included by the association for your roster. All additional rostered staff will incur a $60/pp fee to cover insurance. This will be collected by the Treasurer at the end of the season.

Competitive teams

Once registration officially opens for the season, as a coach you will need to instruct your selected players to go register in their respective divisions in RAMP and provide payment to the Treasurer. You will also need to provide the Registrar with the level at which you intend to register your team (AA/A/B/etc.). Once your players and bench staff are selected, you will need to submit your Team Roster Form (make a local copy that you can edit). Over the following weeks, the Registrar will continue verifying the registration status of each individual on your roster form until it is complete.

You will also need to instruct all of your bench staff to apply for a Vulnerable Sector Check if they don't have a valid one (VSCs are valid for 3 years), upload it to the Screening Portal and/or complete any mandatory training courses required by OWHA. This must be done yearly.

Once all players and staff are registered and the necessary training and VSC requirements are met, the Registrar will submit your roster for approval to OWHA. This process can take multiple weeks, especially as the start of the season approaches. You will be notified by the Registrar once your roster is approved, and only at that time will your roster/team members automatically populate in Team RAMP.

House league teams

Once sort outs are complete and bench staff chosen, you will need to submit your Team Roster Form (make a local copy that you can edit) to the Registrar. You may opt to submit your initial roster with simply a head coach and a trainer, one of which who must be female, to expedite the initial approval process.

Consult the Roster Checklist to ensure all steps have been completed before advising the Registrar that your roster is ready to submit to OWHA for approval.
